In my reading of the Joyce Meyer Bible tonight she tells us not to waste our pain. Pain is sometimes the work of Satan, but if we allow God in, He will shift our pain into a lesson that we should take to help others. That is how I've lived, as I illustrated in "Down the Rabbit Hole: A Memoir of Abuse, Addiction and Recovery." I didn't allow my horrible childhood to stop me from seeing the bigger picture: that my trauma could help others. I didn't succumb to a life of addiction. I now help others on their journeys of recovery. I say this not to toot my own horn, but to demonstrate that a shift in perspective can open a whole new world. We have God within us. If we operate from our God-selves we can live our best lives despite our circumstances. We have the power to turn bad into good within us.
