I had the pleasure of discussing Ironing Out My Life: Child Abuse and How it Affected Everything Thereafter with Deborah Ashway, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist on her podcast "Healing From Toxic Abuse."
We talk about how early childhood abuse affected the way I went on to relate to others, myself, my career, etc. How it was normalized, which made it difficult to identify as abuse. How I people pleased - even those I didn't like. Deciding to cut off contact with my abuser, change my life, and get sober. Trusting my gut. Conscious contact with God.
It gets deep.
