International Violence and Trauma Summit

It is 7 AM and I am in an overpriced room in an uncomfortable bed at the Town and Country Resort in San Diego. Soon I will go to the Conference Hall and sit behind a table, piled with my 3 memoirs, attempting to sell them to attendees of the International Violence and Trauma Summit. I'll be honest. It feels futile trying to self promote self published works. Reinforcing the theme of Ironing Out My Life that approaching life from a disadvantaged place negatively affects the outcome. Yesterday I sold only 7 books. I don't mean to sound like a victim. Only to speak truthfully of my experience. I do my part wholeheartedly - interacting, engaging, connecting with everyone I encounter. And yet... Maybe today will be better.
