In order to connect with my higher power I must seek him. I think of it like this: God's office is on the second floor. My automatic thinking is on the first floor - in self will. When I ask God for the next right action (which I do all day), I must take the elevator up to his office. I can't shout from the first floor up to Him and expect Him to hear me. I must rise up to a higher level of consciousness to communicate with Him. He is always there, but I am not. My autopilot is on the first floor - where my to-do list, fear and worry guide my thinking. However, the more conscious I become of time wasted on this level, the easier it is to ascend to God's level. God is only a breath away. It only takes a split second to realize I am in fear or negativity. I only have to say, "Oops, I fell back down to first floor thinking again," in order to summon the elevator.
